Where do we start???

not a lot that has not been said already about these cowboys (sorry to give cowboys a bad name here).

They leaflet and have telesales, marketing, ( I was actually working in a house when they called once).

They lie and cheat, and yes they probably do have 90 employees, for a "small family run business" as they describe themselves...... :-X

They get a lot of work as people like to think there getting a bargain and a job done on the cheap.

Trouble is they arent buying a can of cheap soup etc and will end up prob unhappy with the results of the clean ::)

Do they bother about Telephone Preference Service?

It is just as you suggest Jamie, all cold canvassing of 1 sort or another, they can NEVER go back to a customer, as they bait and switch, so once been never to return.

Don't think they do Ian, by the time anyone gets to them, the list of other complaints is larger, remember Trading Standards have about a warehouse sized file on these "artists" at the moment, but somehow they keep working.

~Where are you Jamie? as they have probably moved from the south coast area now, they were getting well known down here.

Well they have changed their area of work a bit then.

I was in Andover when they called the customer I was working for.

I too do not fear them, once they have ripped through an area, the people they have ripped off are ready for a proper clean again. ;D

The problem is once they've "ripped through an area" ,
That means loads of people put off carpet cleaning
altogether.
Many peoples attitude is that we are all the same, and
you'll never have contact with them, to be able to
educate them properly.

A company i subbed to years ago worked in a similar
manner. Not dirt cheap, but cheap and then upsell to
increase your commision. Hit a target sales %, and the
commision rate rises. I used to get 70% of what i sold.
Best ever result £25 lounge, left with 7 cheques totalling £349.

At the end of the day a Satisfied Customer is all that counts, They'll come back and so will their friends!!!

Hi

Going back a few weeks ago I had a call off a guy saying that he was looking for advice, he had an interview with these sh**s in Bristol and after googling them he saw the watchdog program on them. So he decided to call another carpet cleaner in Bristol , my advice was not to bother and he agreed. He then gave me their phone number so I called them pretending that I was looking for a job. They offered me an interview for the next day, I then said to enterprise would I be required to sell, his reply was yes and when I told him that I only wanted to clean carpets is reply was f***off then and he slammed the phone down on me lol

I live a few hundred metres from their head office ...

They have about 10 girls on the phone all day cold calling people  offering a carpet clean at 8.99 , once someone agrees the job is allocated to a self employed"carpet cleaner"  who gets 5-6 of these a day , he then visits the customer , and persuades them that they need a higher spec clean at a much higher price.

The cleaner gets a van and a low powered porty , and hands over 60 % of the job value to the company , they have over 50 vans , I have been past the office and seen up to 20 parked  outside at any one time .

I do not let them bother me , as the type of person who falls for this is not the type I want to work for.
