Upholstery Tools
« on: March 25, 2011, 08:13:50 am »
At the moment i have a Kleenright tool that i got from Ashbys when i got my first machine the Ninja, i have never liked the tool and like most hate doing upholstery but i seem to get quite a lot of it so thought about whether another tool would make it easier.
At the moment i am using my stair tool prefering this as i can increase the pressure a little, it is lighter, and has less overspray.
Possible replacements for the Kleenright are the CFR  but with the attachment etc it works out £324.00 thats a lot especially  if its no better than the Kleenright i get so much overspray with the Kleenright even though this is a dedicated tool for upholstery and was not cheap, it was also recommended by Ashbys. ???
I think i will probably take the plunge but dont want to waste more money on another upholstery tool i never use.

ps if any one wants the Kleenright its not been used much and i was told it is brilliant ::)

James,
If you're willing to spend that kind of money why not have a look at the new Uphosltery Pro from Sapphire Scientific, we've got two and think they are brilliant.

Get the cfr handtool for far less overspray and much quicker drying times. Once you've used it you'll wonder how you managed without it.

Just had a look at the Uphosltery Pro from Sapphire Scientific and they look fantastic> I like the idea of the 4 inch head too. Does anyone stock them in the UK? or did you have to buy from the states Simon?

Jim I have got through two kleenrites, when they are working they are good, but the metal head is a inferior
mix of metals and badly corrodes. The screws holding the head together seize and the trigger wears badly.

I have a 7" cfr but a bit heavy on the wrists, the dri master is good but uses a hell of a lot of water and can rip fabric if you scrub with it.

One of my best tools was a early version numatic handtool with a fine jet.

Good luck in your quest

Jim
I have had the CFR handtool for about 5 year now, both the 5" and the 3". Some suites I use only the 3", but the 5" is more versatile cause you make it a 3" (or 4") by puttting your finger over the slot.
Very well made, it will last for donkeys years if you treat it well.
Keep the pressure below 200 and you dont get overspray. (are you using too much pressure on the Kleenrite?????, maybe

Joe,

I think Dri-Eaz  UK do them, also Prochem. Haggle though you'll get better than list price.

Have a CFR for upholstery but also have one of these http://www.carpet-cleaning-equipment.co.uk/product_details_45.htm
Pretty versatile, use it for stairs, tight areas and back up upholstery tool and half the cost of a CFR, just another option.  ;D

CFR for me everytime.

Alot of guys on here have had thiers for years and not had any problems (apart from chaging the valve and jet from time to time due to natural wear of course), So its stood the test of time.

There is no over spray with a cfr.

I tried a dri master tool but didn't rate it much.

I'm with gwrightson on this, drimaster anyday.
With VAT there £480 over here.
Just priced them up in the USA $306 INC shipping.
Do we have to pay VAT or is it paid over there.
Even with 20% UK VAT it's still £120 cheaper, anybody
bought one from over the pond?
