Done 1st price increase yesterday

Slightly underpriced job I bought.
3/4 bed old fashioned house with a conny.
Was £12 and getting that now for houses smaller than this one.
Took the view if he didnt like it then soon replace the job (prefer not to loose any of course)
Knocked for the cheque and said due to rising costs we were going to have to charge £14 from next month ... yes not a problem says Mr Customer.
Fortunately my round is stuff thats been priced within last year or 2 so most fine price wise so not having an across the round price rise just the odd job here and there.

I always put my round up in sections, though nothing ever 'bad' happens when I put them up; maybe lose the odd one-or-two (three-or-four), but nothing serious.
I don't think 'budget time' is a great time for a price increase. End of May (when the sun is shining brightly and you're getting new work in), or January is better IMO.

Putting prices up is always a difficult thing, and there is never a good time. I follow these principles. My financial year is April to April, so I try and put my prices up at the end of the year, ready for the new year. You have to bite the bullet when increasing your prices, expect to lose them if they don't like it, never back down. If you have done a good job they will stay with you. One last thing; remember, Business is business and love is B******T.

we finished our price review's 2 weeks ago - with a total loss of 1 custy who was a good 2 quid under what i would quote now.
we price review every feb/march - not everybody goes up (those been on the books less than a year) but the vast majority do, it allows us to implement small rises that people seem to understand and accept.

I think in the current climate it might seem daunting to put your prices up
but you will find the customers cost of living has increased just like yours & they will understand
go on, put em up!!
