i have a big round mostly domestic cleans. i have a few offices and car`dealerships and shops aswell. just`a question is it really worth doing the commercials. i have lost 2 offices due to relocation issues and one immenent cancellation. what do you think lads and lasses

If you're set up for the trials of commercial and can take the hassle, it's fine.

If you're set up for the trials of domestic and can take the hassle, it's fine.

You can be set up for both (and plenty are) but you can't casually drop into either from the other, in my opinion.

just seems i get a new commie work then one drops off. its a lot of money to loose in a days work. i have set up mostly domestics work.

I once had 10 pubs but I've only got 4 now mainly due to reccession etc. It doesn't really bother me if one cancels because as you should know by now in this game. Lose a custie then pick another one up round the corner.

If you're set up for the trials of commercial and can take the hassle, it's fine.

we are both best of both worlds
if one slows down we have the other to fall back on
we do 100 shops a week 50 houses a week aswell as appartment cleans and large one off commercials

i have a few commercial but there things like childrens nurseries,childrens home,boating club house,caravan park reception and country house,financial consultants,offices.

ive NEVER lost a commercial job yet in 17 years of window cleaning but i dont do shops or industrial units.


90% of my work is domestic and i like it that way.good regular cashflow and loyal customers.

i wouldnt mind say 2 days a month of a few good bigger commercial jobs and see this work as a good bonus to my regular domestic work but never as my main income.

im quite sure theres a lot of very successful commercial window cleaners out there but its not for me!

Wfp has levelled the playing field. Now anyone can clean to 70ft easily. Many window cleaners see commercial cleaning as the golden goose which it is not. To be successful at commercial work you need a few vans on the road and cover a wide area, and being willing to do jobs in the middle of nowhere for a fiver. Domestic is complete control and your not going to lose all your work with the next management takover.

Sometimes.

They come they go and a couple stick around for years and years.

I have about £500/600 per month - about a sixth in value of my round, ranging from £15 - £25 industrial units, £150 factory offices and loads inbetween such as two small blocks of flats at £60 each, a surgery at £50. Also a couple of village primary schools at £150 a pop twice a year.

No shops or pubs tho'.

It's useful for early starts, rainy days and a bit of extra on the quarterly/six monthly stuff.

They're definately worth having; you just have to accept it for what it is. Enjoy the guaranteed income while you have it but don't fret if it goes.

We do lots of commercial and wouldn't have it any other way; when it's piddling down with rain I do wonder what we'd live on if we only cleaned houses

Personally I prefer domestics I feel I have a greater level of control (could just be wishful thinking) and can adapt the business with domestics more than the com work.

I has some com work I wish could replicate but most I am dictated to really with regards to price.
