water softeners dont reduce the tds or make it any purer, they only help prolong you filters.

if you do want to soften it, pure freedom sell a softening kit for £130 ish, or you can make your on, just get a resin tank fill it with softening beads and put it before your filters, it will need softeing salt running through the softening resin quite regularly to regenerate the resin.

It softens your water to prolong your filters and resin.it does bring your  Tds down really low before entering the Di.I was talking to vyair about them.
Takings off all first cleans till march 7th 2014
October  total=  cleaned  extra per month
November = cleaned extra per month
Total £  so far.

Lees correct. A water softener won't reduce tds but it will prolong the life of your filters/ro due to the descaling of the hard water.

Your high tds has nothing to do with hard water

it only prolongs the filters because it stops the limescale building up in them, so it will have no effect on the resin.
