George vs Window Cleaner Pro
« on: March 12, 2011, 04:36:12 pm »
Hi,

Following on from the George thread, does anyone use Window Cleaner Pro? If so what do you think?

Has anyone used George and switched to Window Cleaner Pro or switched from Window Cleaner Pro to George?

Cheers,

Caleb

Gone from George to WCP myself.

I prefer WCP to George.

In my opinion either software is a must, i worked my first 4 months with pen and paper... couldnt go back now

I've got both. I kept telling paul i'd pay more for better.

From a sort of maths perspective wcp is better and has more functionality- but george is simpler and gets the job done.

If you notice on one of the threads one guy had sheets day one week one, all the way to week eight day five.Well you could do that in excel.

I've got a lot of customers, various frequencies, and a ten mile foot print. The flexibility that wcp gives me enables me to regulary earn more money.I am forever thinking on my feet, and switching from one clipboard with a worksheet on to another.

The reasons for this switching are various. Not all jobs can be done at 8am.Perhaps i'll drive to one that can, do a couple more and then drive back into the main worksheet area.Sometimes the builders are at a big job and i have to make other plans.Sometimes a job to job route suggests itself that crosses three worsksheet round areas.

I'm not bad at thinking, but the help of three clipboards with worksheets, and a highlighter pen, makes the data easier to manage and more productive financially. This is what works for me.

In praising wcp i was as baffled as anyone when the developers came on here and seemingly pushed the product off a cliff. They said an online version was being built, but i think a lot of people would now have trust issues.

I couldn't get George to run the rounds as i wanted so moved over to WCP
it's a great program - easy to use and does what we want ( and thats the most important thing regardless of what you choose )

I think things may have moved on. Wassn't the new project called cloud compass 180 or something? Wasn't there a true commerce web address?

I can't find any reference to anything, other than the existing pro retail site.I wonder, i just wonder?

Theres a story here, what is it?

 hi
iam in the middle of this decision myself.  i have george which is good but basic.

wcp is great have run a trial, but to my knowledge you cannot carry a debtors list to the field on wcp lite.
i would find this a problem. i know many dont collect anymore so can update on a desktop but if you are on the round and someone wants to pay you what do they owe?

i have also reviewed midas it is over the air so you need 3g smartphone. i personally didint like some of the features. you have to number your rounds 1,2,3, etc. and you have to use week1,2,3,
not the areas or the dates. you also couldnt look on a planner or calender view and see what was coming up and what was late. it is also 30 a month which is a bit steep i felt.

compass 180 is still in development i am told price point will be a similar 25-30 a month.

george is online now 10 pounds per month. works with i phone as of last week not quite got the fully featured george reports etc but tells you everything you need to know.

if you use george already i think you can export all your data to the new site.

i think iam going to give it a go.

cheers

john

I have tried most of them, I do use Wcp & George regularly, I am trying the Aworka George online its not perfect  but ok there is only one payment method at present which is a pain the planner always seems to start at the top so as the weeks go by this is going to be a problem atm you do need a smartphone and a connection which is not going to work for me as some of the areas I work in dont get a mobile signal let alone anything else

I think if Ian got round to doing the debt list on Wcplite it would be perfect for us and would be a hard one to beat but alas no

hi chris
your review is exactly the same opinion as me. wcp would be spot on if it had debtors list on lite.

i am in leicester so 3g coverage is pretty good so george online would work for me. but i think they are working on the bugs might wait till its a bit more perfected.

i think with any ota service we will always need to carry hardcopy worksheets as back ups if the tech goes down.

 cheers

 john

Started using George many years back.  I then trialed WCP - looked professional, excellent and very in depth but much greater than my needs as a sole trader.

Stayed with George for the simplicity/minimal learning curve/good backup and regular free updates.  I've still only paid the initial £50!!!!!

Recent updates have some very useful features eg. the facility to block future dates to account for holidays etc - George adjusts schedules around these dates to suit.

Best £50 I've ever spent......

George does most of what WCP does now to be fair and for £50.00 dont think it will be beaten on what you get for price.

It was my idea for the blocked dates not with George or i may of asked him i cant remember but i defo asked WCP to interduce this and of course it never happened and never will now unless you want to spend what did they estimate 25- 35 a month and this compass 180 and then what if that gets updates stopped? we are again out of pocket
