Quick question for GaryJ
« on: March 12, 2011, 10:08:20 am »
Gary,

Are you getting much reaction / use from your QR code?

I had one done about a month ago but don't have a smart phone to check it with.

Seems a great idea though and I'm seeing them more and more.

What do you think?

I think its early days for QR codes, a lot of people don't know what they are although they are being seen more and more. It's a bit like 15 years ago when we started seeing WWW's crop up.

I think the scope for QR Codes is massive in some industries but can't think of any applications for the self employed carpet cleaner, maybe someone here might have some ideas. ( Ooo, just thought of one, but its a bit gimmicky!).

I think that thanks to QR Codes the cost of Smart Phones is going to go through the floor and could even be free as companies realise how they can impact on their advertising.

I typed into Google 'qr codes marketing' and got this.

It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Its a 2D code that is scannable from a smart phone via a free downloadable app. They can be used to give all sorts of information. My avator is one and if you look out you'll see them more and more in advertising in newspapers and such.

In America now you can use them to buy airline tickets, the scope is endless! It could make our marketing cheaper as instead of having a brochure or leaflet the whole lot could be done via QR code.

If you print it on your business cards, stationary etc, then someone with a smartphone (with the scan app) can be sent straight to your website (or wherever you want)
