Anyone use a Guttervac or similar?
« on: March 10, 2011, 02:31:04 pm »
If you do, can you tell me how long it would take to clean the gutters inside and out on say a typical 3 bed bay fronted semi detached house.

Thanks

Set time: 10 mins
Clearing: 15 - 20 mins
Pack up:10 mins

I find it some times easier and quicker using a ladder

i agree , i have got the gutter vac and i wouldnt use it if cleaning gutters on a standard house , ill get the ladder off and i would have done the gutters by the time i set the guitter vac up - dont believe all the hype it is ok for commercial stuff or town houses but due to set up and pack up time need to charge a hefty amount

This might sound like a silly question but does anyone use a ladder AND a gutter vac? Ie saving taking a bucket up ladder with you?

I do sometimes take the hose to the gutter but only on low gutters ie the ones about 8-9ft but not any higher as the hose can be weighty.
I agree with the others here.
Set up 10
Pack down 10/15 (I always completely clean all the poles used and make sure it is like new).

If I were doing a small house, there is no point at all using the gutter vac unless you will not go up a ladder for any reason.

no more than 30 mins unless chokker all the way along then maybe 40 mins tops.

no hype no fuss we see no need to get up a ladder ? we got a gutter vac to avoid ladders.

out of interest you guys using ladders do you clear the complete gutter or just pull out the bits the
custy can see ?
if your clearing the whole length what do you use and how many times do you need to move the ladder ??

Two things, if the house had a difficult pitch I would always use  the vac even if it was to take longer , but I would have already charged accordingly so makes no odds.

Secondly I have no idea how many pitches as it depends on the length and how full they are.
All I can say is I use 2/3 wet sill cloths, 1 extention pole with right angle at the end, stand off if needed and a bag for leaves
