Okay, here is the scenario...

You go to clean a real minger of a cream polyprop carpet. It is a total state and you know you have Powerburst and Doubleclean in the van. Do you go with the strong prespray of Powerburst then acid rinse the carpet or do you put down an alternative prespray and rinse with Double Clean, or do you do something else?

The reason I ask is because both are strong products yet they have different purposes. Has anyone ever tested them side by side to see which one works best?

I would never rinse with such a high ph, rather use a strong prespray, pleanty of aggitation and hot extraction with liquid high heat

Yeah 2nd that,I will never use dbl clean in my tank ever again,since I stopped using it,my pumps have lasted twice as long,and I was only an occasional user.
I would go in with pwr burst,then solvall or solvex if there is anything left

I don't think that it is ever a good idea to rinse with such a high Ph product, plus I don't think that high Ph rinses bring anything extra to the cleaning equation. It is only on the carpet for a split second and if you haven't got the soil well and truly loosened before you get to the extraction stage then there is precious little Double Clean is going to do for you.
I'd use Powerburst with some extra agitation and an acid rinse.

I cleaned a trashed BW in a pub today. I expected to agitate the Power burst throughout to get the best result. But I did a little bit of an unscientific test in one very heavily soiled area. Side by side I cleaned two similar areas one with agitation one without. No noticeable difference in results. One of my favourites. The only thing I find makes a difference to it's effectiveness in not putting enough down.

Simon why would you acid rinse a pp carpet ??
Why not just flush out with water if dont want to use detergents in the rinse??

If its a synthetic minger then nuke it is my advice.

Because it's just good manners to neutralise after high Ph chemicals.

Just rinse them out with plain water and the carpets will be back to neutral, cant understand why the acid rinse on pp at all,

Whether you need it or not, it's just something we do as a matter of course, afteral,  it can't do any harm and is a really good habit to be in, regardless of the carpet you are working on.

i'm with nevil here, i'm not afraid to put plenty of pre-spray  down and it definitely does reduce to the need to agitate

aggitation is such an important part of the prespray process it does not matter how much prespray you put down if it does not come into contact with the soiling then it will not break it down. Imagine just putting your dirty clothes into a bucket of cleaning fluid then bring them out without any movement.  Aggitation disapates the prespray so well that it just makes life so much easier. People who do not aggitate really are missing something important. As regards high ph in a synthetic carpet it does no damage to the fibre so what is the problem.

peter, i didn't say that i don't agitate just that with plenty of pre-spray there is no need to go mental with the scrubbing,

Polypropylene LOVES alkalinity so no problem using
Powerburst and Double Clean.
