first time poster so please play nice 

I have been asked to deep clean the concrete tiles around a school swimming pool. It is a 25m pool and the site manager thinks it hasn't had a deep clean for more than 10 years! in some places the build up of scale is an inch thick . I have tried a test area with Breaker and Acid Wash 80, putting it down agitating with a stiff brush with 10 minute dwell time and then scraping by hand with a hand scraper and didn't get a brilliant result also to clean the whole area by hand would take a lot of man hours which would then obviously have a big impact on the cost to the client.

I was thinking maybe sandblasting would do it but wondered if a that process would damage the grout. Has anyone had any experience of this??

Your thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated.

Jaespray has one of those gentle blaster vacuum doodars - sounds like it may be ideal as there is no mess

my knowledge tells me 25mm or 1inch  its a stalagmite    and not just lime scale

We just did one with Bonamain Plus sprayed on, agitated with deck brush then pressure washed off using a patio tool extension. looked really good. We also used Acid 80 (not at the same time tho!)

I have a pool at my villa in Bulgaria.

We use a product - jelly like that we brush on, I can't remember the name but we do buy it from a swimming pool supplier over there. Perhaps you could try swimming pools suppliers here? We leave it on for a few hours and then pressure wash it off.

Good luck it does sound like it will be a lengthy job.

That looks like a tasty bit of kit john.

hi mat   it does what it says on the tin    fully adjustable  can take a pencil mark of off a egg to a white line of off a road    safe clean low niose level (75db) and so green its lime green
draw back is its got to be used in dry conditions
but ideal for internal blasting
