Was chatting to a wc mate of mine today about mot and servicing of our vans etc. I quipped that I needed two new tyres for my van. He suggested saving money and putting car tyres on instead. Half the price because of weight etc.
I'm not too sure what to do really so I'll ask the question here. Do you or would you use car tyres for your van?

Car tyres can be fitted to vans if you sent carrying much weight, if you have a large tank then you need van tyres, if you only have a small tank, then you may be able to use car tyres, but you would need to find out the weight rating if the tyres and how much you van including your gear weighs

I always fit reinforced van tyres on the rear & normal van tyres on the front.

Try these, cheaper then your local garage BUT fitted by your local garage!

Buy some part worns to save a few quid, I use them all the time on mine there like new, last 2 I bought they give me 2 brand new ones for part worn price.

I was able to choose if I wanted van or car tyres on my Suzuki Carry. But I was informed that I could only fit car tyres if I didn't carry much weight.
Can't imagine the same would apply to larger van though.

I know as far as car tyres are concerned, you aren't allowed to fit a lower spec tyre on your car than was originally fitted by the manufacturer. There is nothing stopping you fitting a higher spec tyre though.

I'm sure the same would apply to van tyres.
