25ft SLX with aqua-daptor
« on: March 03, 2011, 10:10:51 pm »
im currently using a 22ft clx for most of my regular domestic work but sometimes i have to get the 25ft hydra out for a few jobs(and it feels so heavy after using the clx!)i also have a 20ft fibre glass pole which was a mistake!i shouldnt of bought it!!anyway we live and learn!! ;D ;D ;D

im thinking of getting rid of the fibreglass jobbie and having the hydra and clx as spare emergency poles and investing in the slx with a aqua-daptor.

a couple of questions really.

is the 25ft SLX ok to use all day every day?and whats the closed length like compared to the clx?

as i have a lot of houses with extensions and conservatories im sure the extra rigidity will come in handy when reaching over them!

also i get pretty fed up with the loop and hose getting twisted inside(and outside!)of the pole using a pole tap
at times!so was thinking of getting the aqua-daptor at the same time and adding it on the slx straight away.

is there a big difference between the clx and slx?only used the clx.

just trying to make work even easier and less straining and snagging!! ;) ;D ;D ;D

the slx 25 is 8" longer than you clx 22, its 5'7" so with an AD it will be a 6'3" ish.

I have had both clx and slx, and there is a massive difference in rigidity, i dont think there is any weight difference between the 2 in weight

I have now got a slx 22, and use it for everyday use, its i only every use my clx 27 2-3 times a month for some high 3rd story windows, but 22 slx does 99% of my work, i would recommend just getting a 22 slx to replace your clx because the extra rigidity of the slx make it much more useable for awkward windows

cheers lee and gavcam! ;) ;D ;D

yeh i think ill get the 22ft as the shorter closed length compared with the 25ft will be better for ground floor work esp with adding an aqua-daptor.

then my 25ft hydra will only get used a couple of times a month like it does now!

then ill have

22ft CLX (emergency back up pole)

22ft SLX (main every day pole)

25ft hydra(a couple of commercial and bigger jobs)

30ft unger pole(yet to be used!but who knows i might get a job where the extra height might come in handy!)

20 ft glass fibre streamline pole will be put on ebay!! ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

best wishes lads

Hi Daz
My son uses his SLX25 as an every day pole no problem and it is more rigid than my CLX22. He initially split the pole and used it as an SLX18 but it was always a hassle and time consuming rejoining them again. It's closed length is a little longer than the CLX but not matter how tight the gap, you can usually clean a window from the side and adjusting the brush head. If space is really tight you can do 3 quarters of the window from one side and do the remainder from the other side.
He also moaned about the extra the pole hose.

It doesn't feel any heavier than my CLX22.

I use a Mk2 Aqua-dapter on my CLX22 and for me its perfect as I don't have to keep bending down to switch the tap off.  IMHO the Aqua-dapter is the best new WFP gadget ever.

The SLX is the best pole out there, albeit a little more costly than the CLX. One thing though is that it's a carbon fibre pole and you will get black hands once the pole starts to wear.
Your CLX is a hybrid pole with a carbon fibre base and fibre glass outer layer, so you won't suffer from the 'black hand syndrome' until your pole has a fair bit of wear.

My next pole will be an SLX22.

You could get the base section off the clx 27 that should fit.

Hi Dazmond,

I saw the aqua-daptor at the show as i'm a newbie, I was amazed at what a great bit of kit it is.

Daz you have to buy the thread adapter then it will screw on the slx.

If you put leereed in the coupon box you will get £5 off.

i think its the metal, but when you are ordering put down what pole you have and they should send the right one out.

i wanted to get one but i don't think they can be used with a 12" gooseneck to much stress on the aquadapter  :-[

This is a quote from one of the AD guys on another post regarding goosenecks

Sorry for the delay, have been at the NEC all day preparing for the show.

OK, with these goosenecks, they should be fine.  The only word of caution we would mention is that the extra leverage produced by the gooseneck will put strain on the body of the Aqua-dapter, and the end screw, so it needs to be handled carefully when the gooseneck is fitted (e.g. if you dropped the pole onto the gooseneck it would be worse than without it fitted), but this also applies without an Aqua-dapter attached.

In other words it's best if possible not to put too much pressure on the joints with a gooseneck attached i.e. don't shake it about too vigorously and try not to drop it

Paul

Why not use a plastic angel adapter instead? do you need a 12" gooseneck for everyday cleaning?

I dont think the threads will go, they are quite corse threads so i dont see them wearing out. I swap mine over quite a bit and there is no sign of wear.

Hi,

We're looking into this and we think we know the problem.  Should be fixed in the next hour or so.
