Terraced houses and WFP
« on: February 25, 2011, 10:50:51 pm »
How do you deal with terraced houses with limited access to the rear apart from though the home.

Do custies mind you dragging hose through the house, or do you use a trolley?

I don't normally do jobs where you have to go through the house. If they really want a clean, I will maybe do them as a one off if it's convenient and I can arrange for first call of the day.  I won't supply a regular service though as it's too much hassle arranging it.  If it's not carpeted I may ask to drag the hose through and tell them that they may need to clean mop up a little after me.  If it is, I use a backpack for the back.

I live in a really long street of terraced houses, Ive never ever seen a window cleaner in our street? I assume thats due to difficult access to the back of the house if the person isnt in to open the side gate?

Small but perfectley formed

Hi
Backpack works well Iam thinking of getting omnipole 35 litre trolley as well
For going down entry.

Wcw backpack has a handle on the top so you don't have to fath about putting it on.

It's just fill time that's the issue it takes about a minute to fill from 100psi flojet. Which when your flying over terraces to make  them pay is a lot of downtime.
We carry 5 25 litre drums and pour it in between houses then fill containers back up at tea break.

Cheers

John

i dont have any terraced houses as such but i do have houses where access is either over the flat roof or through the garage.

sometimes ive gone through their house with shoe covers on and a trad pole for the tops.i never run hose through the house but i do through garages!

would it not be better to use a 50L TROLLEY for terraced?

you could just clean the tops all along a row of them then trad the bottoms.then clean all the backs.

you would hardly need to change the barrels.less time filling up etc.

if you had 35m of extension hose on trolley that would help! ;) ;D ;D
price higher/work harder!

id rather 10pound a pop doing the lot. Would take 3times as long to earn my money at 3.50 a go.

Not really gonna help u with the question but when I went wfp I sold a nice little round of terraced I had as poor access etc ... still miss doing them off the ladders and sometimes think i should have kept doing them with ladders  :)

That's really funny  ;D ;D From what I've seen on this forum mate, looks like WFP guys are slightly cheaper on alot of work. Another point to bear in mind is, any trad guy could learn to wave a pole about but some WC's can't trad. Funny old world innit?

Also, most trad guys can clean insides at the same speed as outside. Strange that. ;) Only really special people like you, and really clever witty guys and top earners can be WFP. Anyone who is trad is stupid. Not like you though eh? You're not stupid are you? Your WFP, so in the "window cleaning" world, you're one of the chosen few. That special breed of person that learns faster than the others.

So yeah, the "Lower" shift of WC's would only charge 3.50 a clean, because they aren't as developed as you are. You're light years ahead of trad guys aren't you?

OH! It was a joke?  ::) Silly me.

Will you mentor me please? I need a winner to show me the way.

Where you?
Not all is what it seems on this forum.
Why do you have to be a newbie to window cleaning JUST because you are new to THIS forum??

IMO
Ladder monkeys have there ladders with them all day long, alot easier IMO for them to clean terraced than WFP'ers! UP and over all those back yards/gates quicker than dragging hoses around.

Are you upset with the 'ladder monkey' term?

chill out, youve missed abit!  ;D

Seems like 'horses for courses' may relate to method as well as people here.

I am trad, and have a village I do which has a lot of terrace houses in it, of which I do approx 1 in 3.

It is the best part of my round, because they are so quick and easy to do, ie do all the fronts, then go round and do all the back. No dragging hoses, trip hazards.

Balancing things up, there are houses which would suit WFP better than trad, ie sloping roofs, quarry stoned paths.

There is work out there for all of us, whichever way we choose to work.

John.

Not all is what it seems on this forum. Never said YOU were a newbie, did I? I read your back posts before I posted, you have been WFP for about a year. Yawn
Why do you have to be a newbie to window cleaning JUST because you are new to THIS forum?? Didn't say you were a newbie. Re-read the post Matey boy.

So why would they clean them for 3.50 a pop then? The cheapest house I clean is €14 (About 12 quid)
Are you upset with the 'ladder monkey' term? Yes, it shows your a WFP snotty bigheaded prat.

No mate, and I never do.

Now go polish ya pole. Mong ::) ;D By the way, how do you see Johnny B's post as agreeing with your childish comments?
