Just tried to stop it leaking from the bottom brass thread,where the short pipe joins to the heater,the threaded part has become brittle,and it`s about half the length it was originally,have had to file it down so it`s flat,just so there is some thread there.had another go today,but think it`s about done now,hardly any thread left,just spoke to my engineer mate,to see if there is anything that can be done with it,possibly solder another threaded part on,it`s not leaking internally,just from the elbow at the bottom.

If it`s bin material,which it probably will be,what are my options as far as heaters go ?
Won`t ever get a Prochem one again,not fit for the purpose they are designed for if you ask me,have been treating this one like royalty,as it`s the third one I have had in just over 6 years...

Try a local garage, they should be able to braze new pipes and connectors on.

Yeah that is what I am hoping my engineer mate can do,if he says no I will pop to a plumbers merchant,and try and sort it myself

Mark i have fixed 2 before like this you need to tap out the thread that goes in take it to a hydrolic/jet washer place the one's they do are shorter you silver solder them together. don't bin it if you could post a picture this would help

Give me a mo will go and take a pit,was thinking of cutting the thread off flush,then like you say tapping a new thread,or soldering something else on

That's an easy fix mark just remember the thread is not metric as i recall its AF
made in the usa any problems give me a shout.

Dropped it off this morning,thread is BSP. they are going to put another elbow type thing on it,hopefully it will last me a few more months

Fixed it,by making another connector piece,cleaned up the thread that was left,hopefully I will get a bit more use out of it now.
It cost me a bag of jam doughnuts,and a cut price carpet clean
