Hi guys,

we are mainly window cleaners and office cleaning, we do a little carpet cleaning with just a small machine 'sabrina' i think its called.

anyway - a friend of mine has just started a job with kirby, servicing the machines ...

he keeps on at me saying these are the best machines ever blah blah blah.

so can you more pro carpet cleaners help me put him striaght - whats your views on the kirby machines please

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmmmm, they are ok vacuum cleaners but expensive. "Prefer sebo anyday". As for a kirby being a carpet cleaning machine... "Ha you're havin a laugh"

Hi , mate , i asked the same question a couple of months on here . The answer of the pro c. cleaners seems to be that it is not pro enough , i have a G4 kirby and for vaccuming your carpets , nothing can touch them , they really are the best , now unless Kirby have up-graded the carpet cleaner over the years ( mine is about 15 years old ) i wouldnt go to a posh house and try and clean the carpets with it ( in hindsight ) . they are fine for maintenance cleaning though .

ps..............if Kirby are like they were when i did it some years ago ( 15 ) your mate as his work cut out to sell them (unless he is a fantastic salesman ) . I worked all over Manchester and try selling a £1300 carpet / vac cleaner to someone who cant afford wallpaper on their walls . You have to stay there for 2-hours demo and trying to sell then your gaffer will ring them trying to hard sell the machine . I sold about 14 in six weeks before my conscience got the better of me and i quit , but it did teach me a few things about how to hard sell , which i have used over the years

As a vacuum cleaner it does a very good job, I like using it except when you require the edging tool and then you have to fiddle around to fit the hose and then fiddle around taking it off. All that is a bit of a pain. But as I said, it is really a good vac.
Would not buy one new - way too expensive. i bought a 2nd hand one for £110 and reckon it could run forever...... well nearly.

As a carpet cleaning machine - forget it.

A friend of mine has the job of servicing them as well (although the main aim of the appointment is to get them to buy an upgrade otherwise he doesnt earn a lot) and mentioned to me in passing the other day that he has been asked by a quite a few Kirby owners to clean their carpets using their own machines.

"You can earn good money doing this can't you Si and these machines do the trick" :  - Lets just say I spent a few minutes putting him right

They are a decent vac mind and as joe said its the atatchments that are a bit hard to switch around.

I had one years ago and remember it came with an attachment to vacuum your cat or dog with, not sure why you'd want to though 

I would think perhaps thats illegal now

the trick of selling these machines were at the time was take the main hoover bag off , put a little white cloth bag onto it , then let the potential customer watch you hoover their mattress , then take the bag of , pass it to the house owner let them look at it , then pick them off the floor when they realise what they sleep in everynight . Those who could afford it but were unsure weather to purchase 9 out of 10 would buy there and then....simples
