Commercial Work
« on: February 02, 2011, 04:22:49 pm »
Ive been trying to get into the commercial market but not having much luck. Ive made cold calls sent letters and emails and offered to do demo cleans and made cold call visits but no takers!!!

Has anyone got a letter / email or any other method that they have had success from that I could take a look at please?

Finding it hard to get a way in and a contact.

Many Thanks.

What type of commercial work are you thinking of?

One good way in to office buildings is via the daily cleaning contractor.

This will be difficult if its a national company but there are many independants often quoting for an annual clean which is just a headache for them.

Sometimes you need a bit of luck mate.

I picked up a few from doing some domestic and found out there partners/husbands etc were the bosses of some large set ups and wanted there commercial carpets doing in there offices etc.

good luck..

Hi,

Try office cleaning companies and offering a rate they can mark up.

Most pretend to clean carpets and client manage when the prochem fivestar makes it look dirtier. Its all about the pitch and offer a demo and markup rate etc.

Hope this helps

The regular cleaning contactors get first refusal for this type of work, and 99% of them will do it themselves with what ever s**t they have to hand.

And if you do get the one off job to clean the carpets, the contractors will no doubt pinch it off you at a later date. Remember that they are in regular contact with the office, your a one off merchant who dealt with the office once.

This is true but don't you think it's worth ago, if you can get a chance at showing what you can do against someone doing it with any old s**t as you put it I think you would get repeat business. You've got to belive in your own ability to do a good job and let that do the talking. It's just getting the chance that's the hard bit!!!

Thanks for all your comments so far.

Give it a go? - Absolutely

Thats where a fair portion of commercial maintenance comes from.

Many cleaning managers realise their staff dont have the skills, experience, training or equipment.

This year so far I have done 3 jobs that have already been cleaned.
In some cases by a handful of contractors over the last 6 months.

I do regular work for 3 cleaning companies, Mostly office spaces but they also pass shops and sparkle cleans etc on to me

Every one has had a go with either a george or a rug doctor in the past and are happy to pay a professional, once you are on mates terms with them they will be fine with you as long as you keep the price low enough for them to make a profit. Make sure you show them around all your gear and the masses of equipment we carry, most cleaners think a vax and a bottle of shampoo is all thats needed lol

I find with commercial work it's all or nothing, at the moment it's mostly what I'm doing, just priced a massive one today, then nothing for ages.

What is your email Ajm, I've just swapped computers as my old one died a death but if I can get onto the hard drive i'll send you some letters that have worked in the past.

Push your budget to a mop, bucket, cloths, liquid flash, mr sheen and call yourself a contractor.  8)
