Portie users detergent in tank
« on: February 02, 2011, 02:28:35 pm »
Do the portie users put detergent in the fresh water tank even after a pre-spray, say with prochem traffic clean. Just to give it a bit of extra umph. Talking domestics here, I know we should try to neutralise the PH when using high PH chems specially on wool. My thinking is to use a wool safe in the tank to rinse out high PH in carpet.
Bo$***ks ive confused me self now.

Ive done some searching on here of previous posts about PH levels having no scientific back up.

Cheers Paul

If its wool or nylon then yes rinse out with acidic rinse cos of the ph but polyprop don't mind the high ph. I personally would reccomend you inspect and do fibre tests. Other carpet cleaners would probably say rinse every time with either hot water or acidic rinse. Each to there own but aslong as you know about the fibres and what likes and dislikes what you should be ok. If in doubt always test in inconspicuous area.

Personally

I use a self neutralizing powder which also acts as a p respray

If i need a bit of extra umph I use a specialist Pre Spray.

On occasions I might do a fresh water rinse

if i am worried after using specialist pre spray I will use an acid spray mist

i used to worry about all this technical stuff green cleaners etc but I am probably a bit of a cowboy these days ;D ;D ;D

I used to use Double clean in my tank sometimes, had pumps go after just 3 months use, bought a Flo Jo pump Jan 2010,and since then have only used fib and fab in the tank, this pump is now over a year old,and anyone on here will know the amount of trouble I had with pumps, touch wood it will last another year, have a spare one as a backup, just in case, and I have also touched wood, wish I could say the same for my heat and run, that has started to leak from the bottom connection, have made some repairs, but it won`t be long before it goes, then looking at around £600,won`t be getting a Prochem one again, learnt my lesson there

Prochem have a 150psi induction pump coming out soon (if not already)

My personal preference on wool would be to use Chemspec One Clean Traffic Lane cleaner on just the Traffic Lanes and Chemspec One Clean Liquid in tank of machine.

This lets the TLC take care of the ground in soil on the main lanes and the product in the tank to clean out the lighter soil in the other areas.

Its Woolsafe Approved and midly alkaline (9-9.5ph) but self neutralising so wont damage any protector that may be present.

As an alternative I will use DFC105 as a pre-spray and in tank as per above if its not too dirty or customer likes to get intimate with trees.
