as above, just did mine and the fuel economy jumped right up, helps offset the fuel rise!

i used £50 fully synthetic oil, but will try and get some cheaper stuff next time, maybe £25?

My 57 plate vivaro is fully synth oil,5/30w.
Wouldn't even consider running it on cheap oil.
Maybe it's the same, maybe not but why risk it!  ;)

It depends what you van is but running on cheap oil can be the most expensive mistake you can make. I don't mean good oil cheap I mean lower spec oil.

The old diesel engines weren't at all fussy but modern turbo diesels need semi synthetic at the very least and fully synthetic is better.

The turbo for a start must have semi synthetic but fully synthetic is not that much dearer and modern engines are run a lot hotter to get the emissions down.

The Euro emissions put a lot more load on petrol and deisel engines. The lubrication standards for both oils is the same. Specially designated diesel oil just has more detergent because the oil gets contaminated more quickly in a diesel.
