My prices have to be quite competetive up here in the north, when I started 3 years ago I was the only one doing it in rochdale / oldham area, now there are 7 or 8 just in my area, the price has stayed the same from day one, £45, for single domestic oven, £15 for 4 ring hob, £15 for extractor including new filter.
Prices vary for range cookers / aga's etc, with letting agents I usually tell them £55 - £15 - £15 then tell them I will apply a discount after the first 10 jobs, I know with most letting agents they usually try the franchise companies first which is quite good as I had a quote off the franchise last week, the one beginning with O and ending in U, they quoted me £57.50 for single domestic.
I wouldn't be worrying too much about adding the oven cleaning, just think it may be a slow starter and as an add on you won't be relying on it for your bread and butter, if you are going to target letting agents always see if you can get them to meet you at property I have one in Manchester city centre who insist I collect keys from office, 30min drive in £2 parking, 15 min walk, bit of a nightmare but they give me of plenty of work.
When I started up I could not get through the door with most of them so I gave the manager at each one a freebie voucher for oven cleaning, once you are in there house you have two hours to sell your services, any way you guys know all this.
I do commercial kitchen cleans for a large FM company as well as builders cleans as I could not survive on oven cleaning alone, don't get me wrong the work has not dried up completely, but I know a few carpet cleaners who are mowed out and a few oven cleaners who are struggling.
Reading the thread about pushing yourself has made me wonder if I have been concentrating too much on building the commercial side (60 day terms) and neglected my bread & butter, one thinks it is time to pound the streets of greater manchester once again ( at least it never rains here ) with the magical flyers, I am also thinking of trying to get into a few offices to add another string to my bow as we have a massive business park opening in july with over 200 companies on site, any advice would be much appreciated and any advice or help I can give with oven cleaning do not hesitate to shout.
regards
