Van insurance renewal.
« on: January 25, 2011, 03:04:39 pm »
Just tried to renew my van insurance and was told that the company that insured me last year are no longer insuring vans that have water tanks fixed in them.
Has anyone else been told this? Also any leads for insurance welcome.

Yes mine was through Swintons Gladiator I think were the underwriters.
I shopped the world but could not save any money. £500. last year £800 this year.
650 tank in two year old van. It was the size of the tank that they got twisted about.
I am now with Alexander Swan

Just renewed mine with A-plan in carterton oxford - covers the system and also the poles being stolen from your locked van.

Ask for chris the manager and say Simon Brannon recommended you for a quote
from Propure.

Aviva quote is £489 against Direct Line = £287!! But as soon as I mention a water tank in van they say "oh can we just check about that and ring you back" That was two hours ago I'm still waiting.

12 YEARS NO CLAIMS, MATURE DRIVER, 3,000 MILES MAX PER YEAR, HAS THE WORLD GONE MAD??

Been try to get a quote from Direct line since 230pm today, just phoned them and after asking me loads of questions regarding my tank theyve now referred it to their head office. How frustrating!! I told them that the way they are acting anyone would think I had weapons of mass destruction in my van.!!!

Finally got sorted today at 11am what a nightmare. Went with A-Plan in the end though is double I paid last year. However this time I've included my whole system including poles etc. At least I can sleep at night now knowing that if someone stole my van, then everything would be replaced.

try stephen ayre at G.T.Insurance, very helpful, he will be able to insure you, and equipment, his  number is 0115 9394747, been in insurance a long time, we have started going to him now as helpful and competetive, all our vans are with steve and will be loking to go over to steve for public liability & employers liabillity when ours is due, hope this helps.

Hi

Alexandra swan top notch

Bryan

Just got a quote from them for my transit connect. They were the cheapest out of 11 companies I phoned and £70 cheaper than A plan and half the price my existing insurers (swinton).

I'm well happy.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

Haven't read the thread but try Aviva direct.

Just saved us £800 on our two vans.
