im having a bad day. petrol in the diesel tank!
« on: January 24, 2011, 04:40:43 pm »
Thats right!!!! one of my staff has done this today and yes he has driven off in it!

cant wait for the huge bill that he is going to have to work off!

honestly, the guy is 45 years old and even drives a diesel car himself!

can you believe it!
The best way to predict the future is to create it.

I've done this before and managed to siphon out the petrol using a hand pump I made from a large water pistol.

No damage was done.

Thats not good, if is a common rail diesel engine the petrol can destroy the seals in the hp pump, if its an older direct injection engine you should be ok, just drain the tank and refill with diesel.

With some vans I believe this can seize the fuel pump (I understand this may be about £2k in a Trafic).  Apparently the fuel pumps need the oil content of the diesel in order to run properly.

Why not just make it so the nozzles don't fit in the wrong vehicle.
