Vikan flocked vs Gardiners flocked brush
« on: January 23, 2011, 02:15:23 pm »
I know the Gardiners brush is a lot lighter but does it clean as well as the Vikan?

Recently changed from a sl dt mono to the Vikan 12 inch rectangular flocked and find the Vikan cleans a lot better. More bristles plus advantage of flocked gives greater scrubbing power.

My work is 8 weekly and would not want to change back to sl mono but everyone seems to think the sl flocked is the bee's kness. Just find it hard to imagine it being as good as the Vikan.

The Vikans do scrub well but have too many bristles & are too heavy for me to use these days.

The nearest you'll get to your rectangular Vikan IMO from Gardiners is the NEW 0-degree DT semi-flocked. This is in fact the original SL splay which they have just reintroduced due to customer demand & my favourite all time brush! :)

The semi-flocked Gardiner brushes are really nice, the bristles kind of melt onto the glass like the flocked Vikan, only a lot lighter. ;)

i dont think there is any difference in cleaning ability, but the vikans really are a brick of a brush.

I just figured that as the vikan has more bristles in contact with the glass it should scrub better?

It probably does. However, it will hold more dirt in the bristles & more water which really adds to the weight in use.

I love the "action" of Vikan flocked brushes, they are just too big & heavy for me, especially with the slx.

As someone once said- "it's like riding a carbon fibre racing cycle in wellies"! ;D

I have a Vikan 11" oval mono and also a Vikan 12" rectangular flocked and the flocked is rarely used as the mono seems to have much more scrubbing power and also rinses well on the glass. Dont know how these would compare with the Gardiners brush though.
