That's a very cheap vacuum motor.
Think I'd be wary of it.
Let's see how long it lasts.

I had a 3 stage heavy duty vac motor fitted in
the Ninja last July by my local engineer.
£280 including "THE DREADED"

I can get my whole house cleaned for £30.  So everyone on here is ripping people off by charging more.

Don't pay someone to fit a vac motor...easy peasy. Three nuts to undo and two bullet connections. Connect vac hose and seal with silicone and a self taper to secure.

 SIMPLES

Give the cheapo ebay ones a wide birth

1 mega noisy
2 plastic mounting lugs break
3 as  mentioned last a few months
"So basically its a big vax!"

You gets what you pays for. I know that the profit margin isn't that great on a motor, for the supplier!

Are you sure you're not getting a refurb ???

Hi Steve

I had to replace a vac motor on on my Powrflite back in June last year, found this guy online and he sold me a pattern unit ( Italian make )
very helpful guy and it was half the price of all the other quotes I had and performs very well.

Can't remember the company name but they are close to York ( they use courriers to post ) Tel 01423 359359

I change vacs and pretty much everything on my machines now. Its pretty easy, just remember how you took them off lol and you only need minimal tools.

I used to pay to have it all done for me but turned out to be a complete rip off. I posted about it a year ago on here i think...

The only thing i am having difficutly with is changing the carbon brushes!  ??? I'm able to take off the casing etc but how do i remove that yellow cable attached from the vac motor to the carbon brush?? without ripping it off completely (obviously).

thanks in advance
Tony

Tony try this, may help  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yND5ffhfqZU   I find the smaller vav motor brushes a nightmare too. Not as easy as the big ones which have easy spade connecters to brushes.

Cheers for the link Chris! :) That'll be my sunday project tomorrow lol

Last time i looked in the vac motor it was covered in black carbon dust! So made it harder to find what he was pushin on there. I'll have my vacum handy this time.

Cheers
Tony

Ashbys 'run in' new brushes by running the vac on a RS spares gizmo which runs at a reduced voltage to
reduce arcing until the brushes are bedded in.  Would like to get my hands on that gizmo  ;)

Thought so Len.Spindle I hope it lasts longer than when they put a vac in my Steampro 2000 had to take it back twice. Was not impressed, at least with Ashby's I get a service that I'm happy with and I don't have to keep taking it back when it's been repaired .The price always comes off your tax bill at the end of the year , then again if you are happy fine .
