What does 0C mean on a Gardiners liquid logic
« on: January 17, 2011, 07:39:35 am »
Hi all getting 0C on the display and the pump keeps showing as dead end even though its not.  Wired the pump up direct it goes full throttle.  So at the moment the liquid logic is stopping the pump from working.  I've tried a recal  to 99 with speed at 99 and nothing.

Hi Simon
I have not got this set up, but try phoning Gardiners, or E- mail as they usually reply quickly.

Had to wait for them to open. They are tryingto find out for me at the moment by calling the manufacturers. I was able to wire in the pressure switch so fortunately I'm able to work.

Could be Over Current - pump drawing too much current.

I think analogue controllers (with a dial) as opposed to digital controllers, are generally more reliable, though the fault is not necessarily with your controller, could be some sort of blockage in your system (e.g. hose).

Yep you are right gardiners got back to me and it stands for over currant, the pump trying to draw near the max limit. However it's also displaying dead end and if I plug in the pump direct it works as normal but flat out. Gardiners have said they will sort it for me though if the problem doesn't get better.

Just thought that I would update this situation.  Alex G emailed the manufacturer who said that OC means over currant but that you shouldn't get an OC reading with a DE dead end reading.  After trying the controller with a couple of different pumps and not resolving the problem Alex called and said he would send another unit out and send my one back to the manufacturer for testing.

I took the controller off ready for exchange with the courier only to find that the inside was very wet, even growing mould.  The problem?  Well the unit is splash resistant however it didn't really get wet but I heat my water with an L5 and the exhaust fumes must have penetrated the unit.  A blast with a hair dryer then reposition the controller and problem solved.  So didn't need to exchange unit after all.

To those with unventilated gas heaters, water vapour can penetrate what water can't so make sure that your electronics aren't in the firing line.
