450 gpd plus booster pump = how much water per hour ?
« on: January 15, 2011, 04:52:32 pm »
im looking at getting a wfp system very soon but wanted to know how much water the Pure Freedom Compact Reverse Osmosis System plus a 24v Aquatec Reverse Osmosis Booster Pump would make per hour.

is it

450gpd x 4.5 ltrs = 2025 x 2 for the booster pump = 4050 divided by 24hrs = 168.75 ltrs per hour

or am i wrong  ???

The stated productions of ROs are not real world figures - only hypothetical maximums.
What you get in the real world is very different.
For starters, I believe the GPD figures quoted are usually for American gallons.  They are a bit less than UK gallons.
The quoted figures also assume perfect conditions (ideal temperature, water pressure, brand new membranes etc).
Obviously there can be considerable fluctuation.
I once used a 300GPD RO with a 75PSI booster pump.  It gave anything between 450 and 800 litres per 24 hour day.  There was a very long distance between mains outlet and RO though so this probably reduced it a lot.
You should easily be able to fill a 1,000 litre IBC in 24 hours with a 450 GPD setup and pump.  If you are a single operator, that will be more than enough.
However, just bear in mind that the stated figures belong in fairy tales.

As above, My 300 GPD has produced about 800 litres over 24 hours, But at the moment it probably around the 450-600 litre mark. I am hoping it because its winter and will speed up again in summer. But saying that it is now indoors under the sink  :-\

with a 300gpd without a booster pump running at 50 psi it takes 3 hours to fill 400 litres for me. im not sure if that is good or not but it is fine for me and what i need for now until i get bigger than easy clean ;).

So about 800 gallons a day from a 300 GPD RO.
I wish I knew how to do that  ;D

Dartford,.. merlins are rated at 720gpd.

The "gallons" quoted are always US gallons, so a 450gpd unit would product 1703 litres in 24 hours in optimum conditions. With cold water, even with a booster pump the real figure will prob be around 1500 litres per day, or 62.5 litres per hour.

The booster pump will not make it produce above its rated output,.. 450gpd is what it will produce at max pressure.

Hi there.
I wasn't having a pop at you.  It's not my style  :) .
I thought you were larking around with your post so just joined in.
Merlin's are fine, though can be a bit pricey if on a water meter due to producing quite a bit of waste.
Not too far from you.  Down in Crawley.
