i have a LC 6500 and the oil i have been told to use is multigrade40/30. this is hard to find in motor factor shops.

The first number denotes the viscosity of oil at its lower temperature and the second number denotes viscosity at the higher temperature.
So for example 5W-30, indicates oil viscosity 5 at  low temperature and 30 indicates oil viscosity at high temperature.
I think the multigrade 40/30 you have been told to use is probably wrong.
Although I could be wrong!

hi jsmc  you dont say if the oil is for engine or petrol mix/2stroke    go to a good mower shop   
if its 2stroke oil i would recomend stilh oil   it is mineral oil and wont whisker the plug up
use 2x times recomended amount     lot cheaper than blowing engine up
