Dear Martin,
« on: January 13, 2011, 06:46:33 pm »
I had this little note sent to me today

Dear Martin,

Please find enclosed cheque for £10.
I'm afraid to say that i'm not over impressed with the "water only" method of window cleaning.
If you still do the old soapy water wash then please  call again, if not then this will be the last payment.
Thanking you
Sally G---h

This house was one of the most awarkward houses that i've done on my round  and i'm thankfull to get rid !!

Call an established local windower cleaner that does traditional and ask them if they want it.

Then send the customer a txt, e-mail or letter thanking for there business and if they ever change there mind just get in touch.

Or do them trad  :P

I always check my work after, and on this occasion i was quite happy with the end results.
The women hasn't told me what the problem is only saying what she wrote on the bit of paper.
I'm not to far away from her house tomorrow so i'll have a crafty sneaky look while she is at work ;)
But she has always had a snidey little dig about the wfp system how it doesn't clean properley(gone back in past to check), how i do it that much quicker and still charge the same as trad.
Good luck to her if she can get someone to do it the tradional way. As i'm not prepared to put a pair of ladders on uneven ground have my hands ripped to shreds on rose bushes that grow around her windows. and have soaking wet trousers as i stand between fir trees.
For a £10er she can shove it ;)

I suspect the bit I've highlighted is the real issue for her.  Really, if the work took the same time to get through with WFP as it did trad, you would be seriously out of pocket due to the higher running costs.  Customers who've never been self-employed often struggle to get their heads around this simple, basic fact.

an email i received yesterday

Enquiry: Traditional window cleaner to clean window ledges and prefer not jet hose pipe wash.

thank you

My reply

We only have hot jet hose pipe as the Working at height regulations state that if a safer method than ladders can be used then it should be used. Please remember if someone has a fall on a ladder on your property they can legally sue you for damages.

Because it's not true. Be honest with your customers, or are you happy for to them to lie to you?
