There's nothing complicated about it, just having the url is enough (as that is what google etc pick up) but having a few words of description also helps and looks better.

I hope this helps... You would paste this into the code of the page you are linking from.

For example,

Best carpet, sofa & carpet cleaning in xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

would be.... (replace zzzzz with your web address, Say http://www.carpetcleaninganytown.co.uk)

Best carpet, sofa & carpet
cleaning in xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(xxxxx would be wherever you are located)

OR say,

carpet cleaning xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

would be...

carpet cleaning
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Again replace zzzzz with the website address

A few reciprocal links are probably a good move, but bear in mind they don't do anything like as good for you as one way links.

Garry has showed you a few ways to represent your links. Try to use the href method most of the time as this then give you 100% keyword density. However as with all thses things a natural profile of backlinks would include other things as well like just an url or ' Wynne's Profile' but you will get links like that naturally from other sources.

It sounds complicated but its not really if you take the time to learn about it. There are lots of resourses online if you search for "website seo tips". But then you need to know how to implement these yourself. It takes lots of time and practice to manage a website yourself. I'm still working on mine after 6 years but still have lots to learn....
