i have a 40 40 r o and need a booster pump as my water pressure is only 35

Just gone through this process myself .. my pressure was 42psi so was taking 4 days to fill my static 1000litre IBC ...

but due to sub zero temps since I bought it I have only just started using it this afternoon .. its running in garage as Im typing this !!

however not yet sure it was the best pump to buy as it works on a pressure switch so only boosting for about 30 seconds to about 80-100psi then it cuts off for a few minutes before sensing the drop in pressure and boosting it up again .... will know by later tonight so can report back tomorrow.

ok AR the results are in .... good but could be better I think ??

before it was taking about 4 days to make 1000 litres now with the booster pump its doing 250 litres in 5 hours so 20 hours to make 1000 litres ... not bad and fine for my needs at this moment.

I think it it had no pressure sensor and was working 100% of the time then I would think it would do 1000 litres in 8 to 10 hours but not an expert.

I bought the Draper equivalent of this pump below, runs very nicely, and half the price of many that I've had recommended..

I run it on a standard 40/40, tds in 350ish, tds out 15.    (before I used a booster pump the lowest it would produce from tap pressure was mid 40's).   

I have yet to time it for large amounts, but it filled a litre jug in 35 secs. (insert complicated mathematical equation here).

I think it was June at GAPS who recommended it (unofficially) but it seems to do the trick just nicely, mine was off e-bay, new, only about 80 squids plus delivery...

That Clarke CPE100P - 1" Self Priming Water Pump pumps 35M head, roughly 50 PSI.
Here's a similar pump for £65 with free postage that pumps 44M head, roughly 65PSI.

Although they might be adequate, they are not really enough to get the best out of your membranes. Better than no pump i suppose.

Thanks for all the help and advice as regards a new booster pump that stays on with continous pressure.Went to machine mart today helpful staff new pump has 50 metres head producing water at 10 and filling quicker. I appreciate all the advice given thanks.

what happens to pump when it reaches its max psi ?? does it keep running ??

 I went for the CPE 130 SS 1" it stays on all the time pumping has reduced R O readings and fills quicker compared to my other pump which came on at 45 off at 90 steady pressure better for R O

Next to the presure gauge ! There is black box on the booster pump. Undo that box should be two springs in that black box...Gentley adjust them...And your booster pump should not cut out ...any more

Thanks for that Zodiac .... been looking at that black box and was thinking of having a looksy inside but hate messing with stuff but if its only 2 springs then even I can cope with that  ..... Thanks !!
