I need to produce more water and i currently run a merlin, i have an old 2002 ionics 40inch RO that i can replace it with but will it really make that much difference in terms of water output ,
does anyone know the difference between a merlin and an old 40incher percentage wise?
Is it worth swapping over?
Should i not bother and save for an HF5?
OR
should i get another standard 40 incer and run 2 together?
To answer this question correctly we would need to know your tap water flow rate and pressure.
To answer some questions generally we can look at the specs for the filters.
A Merlin 720GPD model will produce between 480 and a 1000 GPD if its run at its optimum pressure of roughly 45 PSI. The maximum its capable of producing in any event is 2.84 Lt/Min.
A HF4 4040 membrane will produce up to 2400 GPD if its run at its minimum pressure of 100 PSI.
Able to operate at very low pressures (100psi/6.8Bar) Oh hang on you mentioned the HF5 ? I guess that you suspect its a low pressure membrane? And you're right, its low pressure compared to the rest of them it can operate as low as 70-80 PSI. And it wil produce about 2500GPD.
Anyway, whats your water pressure?
