i use a cordless drill too, but without a clutch at the moment. My drill is an 18v drill but is wired in to the van battery, so it only has 12v supply, it is a 2 speed drill and is set on the slower setting, adding these 2 factors together means that the drill runs slightly slower but still has a lot of power, so when the hose does snag, there isnt that much of a kick, so it isnt really a worry for me. The clutch idea is a good idea, but i would only get one it i wanted a fixed setup to allow the hose reel to freewheel with the drill still connected to the reel.
