Static tank heating
« on: December 23, 2010, 07:48:49 am »
Have rigged a loop-back in my 2000 litre tank..also added a cheap timer to my pump. As the tank has a 1kw tube heater + thermostat...the pump now comes on for 20 minutes every 3 hours during these cold times....I'm sure I will find a happy compromise.

The reason I did this was that sometime ago when I first bought it...I noticed that the thermostat in the tank would not read anything above 8 deg and it took some time to get it there....answer circulate the water and bang from 7,5deg to 14,8 in 5 minutes...

To be honest I am not interested in using this set-up to create 'hot' water merely to keep water from freezing and using the radiated heat to keep ro system from freezing.

I know is has been mentioned on here I have just read the back posts...so you live and learn.

Cheers Dave

Dae,
I use 2 x 300watt fishpond heaters in my IBC, it keeps the water tepid and hasn't frozen...... Yet  :)
