Oh and just thought its probably not a good idea for using on domestic jobs, shining a bright light into somebodys house sounds a little intrusive dont you think 

Would be fair enough on industrial and commersial though! 

but out of interest whats new and special about this torch? looks like a normal led to me

I have one of these and they are scary, it's like having a shaft of sunlight. I think you could temperarily blind someone with it. On widebeam you can easily light up the front of a house, on narrow beam it throws a light for a couple of hundred yards.
They are strange in that the narrow beam is rectangular showing the shape of the LED. The light is like a projector light, pure white.
There are Uk sellers too, about £8.00 delivered.
This one is rated at 300 lumense 5 watts, they also do a 500 lumens version, I think you would pay ffor that in diminished battery life.
I paid nearly £40 for the pro lenser head torch, this one blows it out of the water.

i dont use it for domestics , its main use for me is an office block we do monthly where the cars park tight against the building so we have always started it about seven when everyone has left, during the winter we always had to do it on a saturday or sunday when no one is in but this small investment keeps my weekends free. the main difference in the torch over a led similar head torch is the bulb is has one small bulb smaller than an led called a cree bulb. its like a car headlamp on you head with an adjustable beam and the batteries seem to last a couple of hours (just cheap throw away batteries ive been using) there is hand torches if you search cree torch on ebay that comes with a clamp for a bicycle which should easily fit onto any pole , b and q also sell the hand ones with out the clamp but they are dearer and dont have as many looms
