Had my hose burst today not far from the conector, Am i right in thinking this can just be chopped then the same conector reatached?

And if so where?

Its against heath and safety to swage a new end on it, as they cannot perform a burst test on it, if it was my hose i would go to Pirteck, hydraquip and buy a 1/8 barb fitting, then I would buy some ear clamps two of then, cut back the hose and refit. this should take upto 800 psi. but that was only if it was me. You should buy a new hose

My local guy will only do it if the hose has the crimp ratings printed on it.

If not its a replacement.

Theres no law that says you can't re-end a hose providing its done correctly. I probably have the hose done on my jetter every 6 - 8 weeks and if I could'nt its £300 every time. Some firms round here have their own policy to replace not repair as they want you to spend more

Its worth looking for your local Hose Doctor franchise. They did me a 10 metre solution hose for £70 and it is bang on the money. I spent more than that on repairs on the hose I bought off Ebay (never again - the hose was not temperature rated).

A leaky hose will waste a lot of water, so try to fix it as soon as you can. Apply some rubber cement to the hole and let it dry. Then affix a rubber patch to the area and wrap the entire hose several times with duct tape.

I always find hoses go at the wand end, so a good tip is to swop the connectors around after so long or do what I do and have the line end double 'crimped' a second 12inch section of solution line crimped over the first section

Mike didn't you used to fit elbows to the tool end so the hose hung down thus taking some of the strain off it?

Goron you've got a good memory, I did used to fit an elbow at the wand end but I found it was great when using a wand  but when I used it connected to an upholstery tool it angled it down onto the cushion so was a bit cumbersome.

I now carry an assortment of solution lines so might dig out that old line with the elbow connection and start using it again ( just on carpets)
