Because it was a round we bought and that is what she's used to from previous window cleaner. Pain in the bum. We don't offer that to any we canvas unless it's impossible to get round the back which it isn't with this one

personally if there no issues with access i would start going round now and not phone again, just say you forgot if she says owt,she will get used to it if not i drop her, thats just pathetic not wanting you come if shes out,she just doesnt trust you or previous cleaner to do the job, wants to be there to make sure you do the job

i have 2 that i need to tex out of nearly 300 and 1 that i need to do on thursdays  but doesnt put me out else wouldnt do them

Is this the round you bought a couple of years ago?  Has she always been in on previous cleans?

There are 2 sides to this though.

Whoever you purchased the round off did they explain all the customers requirements to you? Did you ask them for a complete run down of the ones that want just that little bit extra?
Yes it is annoying that she wants a service that is not in your criteria, but it is only what she is used to with the previous cleaner. When you took over did you explain that unless it is for access reasons you don't make calls prior to the cleans. This would have broached the subject with her and you could possibly have come to an amicable agreement over it, or not :)
Ok so she only wants cleans when she is in....... how many others do you have close to hers? (same street, next door etc etc) How long does it take you to ring the door bell to see if she is there or not....30 secs to one minute? So if she is in you earn money, if not you just go on to the next one. ; :)

Personally, I reckon that a "only clean mine if I'm in" customer is worse than no customer.  I say this because a customer who wants such a service will usually be a "not todayer" too.  Also, when you do eventually get permission to do a clean, there will be months of crud on there and the job will take a lot longer.  Even if such a customer is in the middle of a load of other work, I would still rather not have them on my books.  I used to have loads like that in the first few years.  It can make an otherwise healthy business, unworkable.

Did she pay you when you went back to collect? Also has she cancelled you or does she still want you to clean her windows?

What Helen said about ringing her doorbell when you are in her street make sense for two reasons: 1) You are not making a special journey for her, and 2) she may see you while you are working nearby and expect you to call then. If she wants them done, you can do them there and then. If she doesn't want them done, you can decide whether to keep her on or not.

You could also make a definite arrangement for future cleans by agreeing a specific date and time after each clean. If she messes you about over this, you can decide for yourself if the job is worth it.

if i so much as detect a complaining tone (sounds akin to "nagging" tone) ,im already looking for an escape route.

come to  think about it,i can knock a hundred fresh doors, nay a thousand, and still raise a smile, whereas i cant smile when working for a complainer

i got a few of thos as well,,,, pain in the ar s e....i advise you ring me when you want them done, but if it goes later than the round time, it goes a pound or too, then fit it in with the rest
better than all the rest

thats not bad advice, let her ring you, if she takes 2 months to ring charge double if 6 months charge 6 months money etc ,might work to your advantage, but dont count on it

To be honest these people get my back up as well. From an employing point of view there is nothing worse than sending out guys with sheets and them having problems along the way. The odd front only is ok as i take that into account but when you can't clean a property full stop i tend to try and talk it over with the customer to resolve it before parting company
