Prochem Problem
« on: December 20, 2010, 10:57:24 am »
Morning all,

I have a problem with my machine and am reluctant to ask the £45 hr people to repair it.

I am not getting any water out of any tools.

The pump is running, I have taken the hose off the outlet of the pump and it pushes water out ( not sure how much pressure this would push it out at) when I put it all back together and run the pump but press the little nipple in on the connector no water comes out.
Has anyone else had this problem?
If so how can it be fixed?

Many thanks

Nick

if the pump is pushing water then work your way along the supply chain and see where it stops.

from the pump to the machine Q/C ( can you take this Q/C off?) then the Q/C that connect into the machine take it off and connect it onto the machine see if water flow through it, then  keep going until you find where the flow stops

I've just bought a batch of Q/C that are all faulty, the inside pin comes loose and doesn't open

ps make sure the pump is not just gravity feeding water through its self and is actually' pumping'

Sometimes have to disconnect my heat and run,and stick a screwdriver into the female connector, just to move things on a bit,i also find that it sometimes helps to lift up the front, and drop it down again, this normally clears any probs i have with mine, and believe me i have experienced most things that go wrong with this machine..

That's what I was wondering.

Nick,

Can you attach a short (say 4') length of plastic tube on to the quick release and then pump it back in to your solution tank. Try pumping some fairly warm water through the pipe. If you get a good flow through there it could be a n ice problem in your solution hose as Clinton has suggested.

Had the right hump with my van this morning !! Having issues with the doors freezing shut, this morning after tipping 3 kettle`s of hot water on it i lost my rag and kicked the door,in a  John cleese style, eventually got in it to start it up,shut door behind me and got locked in,left it running the other day and the locks activated, and locked itself, lucky i had a spare key, doing my head in

Are the triggers on the tools actually pushing and releasing
or are they stuck shut.
If stuck unscrew and take off trigger and unscrew the nut
that holds the plunger, I found ice in mine the other day just
by leaving it on outside step of house I was working in for
about an hour.

Mark, you probably know this but I think the doors stick because there's moisture between the door and the seal, which freezes.  Best thing is to make sure there no water/ice on the metal part of the door which contacts the rubber seal.

Had a tip yesterday that mixing 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water and spraying on the metal areas and the windows stops the frost getting at it.
Might be worth a try.

I do not think it is frozen, One of my lads left it in the van, had a hard frost, buggerd the kingston van.

Put the whole set up into the office heating on all the time for a week.

Replaced the kingston valve,so the tool should work fine.

Tried all 3 tools and no water at all not even a dribble.

Where the coupling comes out of the machine I pushed the little nipple inside it but no water came out.

Are there any repair centers close by I need to sort it now

Regards

Nick

I had a similar prob,
Cleaned a custys carpet and was finished,so I was showing her how upholstery tool sprays and extracts, but because solution tank was empty nothing was coming out, have you actually been cleaning my carpet she says.Totally trashed and stained white carpet,as good as new after 3 hours.Refilled tank pump running but still no solution coming out, even when I pushed nipple of hose, felt a right pratt as I thought my pump was gone, and still had a job to go too.Got home to get spare machine, but decided to try pump again, hey presto, working again.I assume it was just an airlock,or because I had totally emptied tank ,it needed extra priming to get solution to tool. This has happened twice.I think the pump is an on demand pump.

Morning all,

I have a problem with my machine and am reluctant to ask the £45 hr people to repair it.

Try a new connector on your pipe as the connectors can stick shut and not let water through

Having probs with my heat and run now, thought it was the short hose leaking from the swivel joint,so i went and got another one made up,got home to fit it,and it turns out it`s the brass connector part of the actual heat and run,it`s split around the top part of the thread, company who made it also got the wrong thread on the new pipe, which also didn`t help,it`s less than a year old,so will be calling Prochem tomorrow

I believe talcum powder is also good as this takes away the moisture which freezes the door shut. Just suppose it depends upon whether you have any of that instead :)

Turning to the original problem I have had an intemittent problem which sounds similar. It tends to happen when I'm changing hoses/tools over. I turn the pump off, make my changes, turn the pump back on......and no water comes out.

I'm suspecting that it's probably old male/female connectors and now I've got some time I'll get round to changing them. As a temporary fix for the problem, I found that by attaching the open-ended hose (used for draining the machine-it's a Ninja, by the way), then running the pump for a few seconds till water is freely flowing, and then re-connecting the normal hose, solves the problem for me.

Whilst my problem sounds similar it may of course not be the same but I offer my experience to you in your search for a solution.
