i tried turning gas regulator up and water down, to slow the flow, and i turned up my variflow, and down my variflow, and bleed the whole thing, no air locks, and it still fires up and the flame burns blue, and the water comes out at a fair pace as it did all day, but it is hardly heating the water ?

sounds like a thermostate problem,  as it must be telling it that the water is warm

The flame should be blue.

Is it not even heating up a little?

if the flame is yellow there is a problem with the gas regulator

Propane is more likely to freeze thats the red bottle

Right , so best get a blue one for the cold weather then?

propane(red) freezes lower that butane(blue), Infact I don't think it freezes it just liquifies stops being a gas, something i have learned researching my non working propex heater!!

Like chopsie said the red has a lower freezing point, so is better for outdoor aplications, or low temprature conditions.

propane is better for cold which as far as i have ever seen comes in a red/orange bottle and butane comes in blue bottles. Butane can stop working at 5 degrees C and below if I remember rightly, The gas itself does not actually liquify at 5 degrees, It does this a bit lower temp, probably around zero, But something reacts in the bottle at 5 degrees and makes inside the bottle below the actual outside temp.
