A wrap looks so much better IMO, but sign written is a lot less expensive!

wraps look really good and protect the van well but it prob wont get you any more work then just simple signwriting..

so id go with the standard signwriting and keep it simple ... then with the extra cash left - spend on advertising eg flyers ....

Have sign writing done, it's cheaper & reads better.
Some people wrap their vans in all sorts of weird things and you lose what they're all about.

I've seen a builder's van wrapped in what looks like to be flowers, now you wouldn't expect that on a builders van and I suppose in some sence it's an eye catcher, BUT, blimey you don't have to go to that extreme.

The less the better for me!!

Lots and lots if you "Strategically" park your van at weekends!

It's one of the cheapest forms of advertising....

A lot of my new customers are curtain twitchers, who wouldn't have known what I was up to if I had a blank van....

when people call you and ask for a quote  you will usually ask them in the course of the conversation where did they get your number from, most will say google, Y/P advert in paper ectc..etc.

no one will say "I saw your van" because they didn't get your number off your van........ even if they saw your van in Tescos carpark they still went  go home and got your number from google or the Y/Ps

I get load of work from my van but no one ever has stood next to it and written down my number or tapped on the window and asked for a card, but I have cleaned my butchers, the manager from Comet, the cop who gave me a ticket, david loyd health club, load of business who have seen my van in their carpark and remembered it..... but still got my number from another source.

no one will say they got your number from your van becuase they did'nt

About 12-15... Usually in car parks or down town when I'm buying a Cornish Pasty... Yum yum!, where they ask for my business card.

But a lot will say "I seen your van but Googled your number!"

It's still cheaper than paying £200+ a month to YP and getting 12-15 jobs, like I did when I first started... ::)

IMO, a sign written van's a "No Brainer!"

Your running a small independent business, not a UK national company. Keep it clean, tidy and un-sign written.

Many sole traders use their vans for other things, other than its intended purpose. There is nothing worse than seeing your local sign written cleaning van loading up with shopping at Tesco, or at the local dirt bike track, or at the tip dumping garden waste. It looks unprofessional to say the least.

what planet do you live on?

are you seriously saying you put loading shopping into a sign written van worse than rape, gun crime and robbery?

Mathew, thats an interesting  opinion,  coincidentally I believe the exact opposite ;) ;)

people feel safe with what they know and are familiar with,  you should take every opportunity to let people see your van, Eg we have 2 cars but I still went to my sons  school open evening in my van

Colin,

How do you fit your machine (advance I believe), sebo, vacuum, chems, rake, spotters and everything else in your van?

Do you have a secret compartment?  I struggle getting everything in my trany  ???

Simple sign writing looks cheap and can be totally indistinguishable from the other thousands of vans that drive past people every day.  But having said that, it does the job to a certain extent.

A good vinyl wrap makes the van stand out from the crowd.  Good for prestige if nothing else.  If you're just starting out I'd suggest the money could be put to better uses, probably go for the cheap job to start with and set a target to upgrade to bigger van and posher signwriting next time!

ooooo suits you Sir!

Paul, for £700 you probably wont get a wrap even for a van that size. (from the quotes i got in my city anyway)

But you could go half wrap and half sign written. i.e. half of one side with a design/half wrap and ON THE SAME SIDE sign written with your name and contact details. Same on the other side.

Sounds confusing but if you google sign writters, they'll have half wraps in thier portfoils.

Its cheaper and you still get the impact of a wrap without the cost.
