I'm thinking of buying this machine as my back up / eventual replacement. Does anyone have any experience with this machine and what's Amtech like for after service?

ok firsty dont take this the wrong but why would you want to buy a new porty as a backup an then to use as main machine , why not upgrade and use your current machine as the backup.

the powerflite machines have a great heating system

But IMO thats where it stops design floors in the waste tank means for some reason in the the model i had the px1350 meant tht water used to get into vacs through turulance being created in the waste tank. used to have to empty waste tank every 20 l or i had issues. also they are a sod to fix yourself

to some up i think they are ok machines but if you are going to spend out there are better out there eg airflex, or scorpion.   But what would i know i am a noisy gas gussling tm user now

I had a demo from amtec, and used it part time for nearly a year with no problems. That was on chinese vacs. Replaced with imperial, and they lasted 10 months, before going bang. well first one did. I thought machine was very good, excellent heat, and suction. Easy to replace vacs.

1080 is quite a different beast compared to the 1350.

It is a Clamshell design for easy access and it has a different waste

You are right about access on the 1350 though. Having to turn it upside down is a bit of nuisance. Performance makes up for that tho.

Does the Airflex have a heater,Steven?. I find an inline heater a  better option having used both on board and in line systems.

Great machine cant fault mine at all to be honest and also great customer service from Amtech! What I will say though that this is a bit more than a "back up" machine, I can understand if to be a back up for a TM. Good price especially at the sale price £1933.75+VAT. Remember VAT increase just round the corner. Airflex Turbo is a great machine, a bit more dough and the heater is optional, however it does come with 25ft hose set and wand for £2750+VAT. Whatever you decide from the two you are gonna be getting a high end porty!

I bought one of these a month ago and it's a great machine.only problem I had was when the waste tank was full it leaked from underneath,something to do with the vacuums I think.

its as i said before its due t turbulance in the tank  . if managed correctly you wont have a prob ( empty waste tank reg and run vacs with dry waste tank at end of each job for 5 min to dry out )

richard, i think you can get a mod to cut down on the turbulance, by cutting/redirecting the inlet pipe....gary

I have one too, biggest downside is having to tip the beast up-side-down to get at the pump

But as far as performance goes, I can only wax lyrical about my machine!!!!

Guys, I need to buy another machine to either use alongside my advance or have as a back up just in case a get an on the job failure as happened earlier this week.

I was just wondering if there is anything else I could look at (machine wise) different to what I'm using?

If not, I'll but another machine from alltec as I'm happy with that company

So you want to spend another £2500+vat for a "just in case" machine.

If you have a decent supplier, if you have a vac motor down today you should have delivery of a replacement tomorrow.
