Adhesive Repair for Tufted Carpeting
« on: December 07, 2010, 03:46:37 pm »
I have a secondry backed tufted carpet to repair where the
Secondry backing has come away from the primary backing
After being affected by flood water with the recent drop in
Temperatures. In the past I`ve always used a glue size, not to
Too much good effect really.I did think about using a watered
Down copydex solution but that is about 90 per cent water as
I understand it.What do members who take on water affected
Carpets use other than glue size?
Thanks in advance for replies.

Are you serious?

Once this break-down has occured then it's not worth doing anything with it apart from dumping it & getting new!

Sometimes the insurance company insist that any remedial
Or smallish type repair work is carried out.I agree about the
Trashing of the carpet if the backing has come away because
It`s been left a few days before treatment.
This happening is recent and is only a couple of squares yards
Or so.Just thought I`d ask,,,,,,,anyone ?

You could try a spray adhesive as it's such a small area, make sure you spray both surfaces.
