Well i went out
« on: November 29, 2010, 03:05:05 pm »
Did 4 £20 houses, im happy, did some downs by hand ie doors and pathways.

Water was freezing quick on windows, i had water tonking out so hopefully they got a good rinse, and id got boiling water for trad and that was still freezing. Just seen that some of you put screenwash in for trad to stop freezing...what a good idea.

went out today in snow  with my wfp  in lincolnshire 3 below here ,  and all the windows I cleaned didnt freeze at all with my secret ingredients I add too my trolley system, all nice smear free windows custies happy all together I did 7 hrs with a hour break . No freezing pipes etc and trolley could have done another 7hrs without any problems what so ever. Trolley in boiler room for night, then ready to start early tomorrow morning, in all my warm clothes , cap water proofs gloves and thick army socks, with my air ware boots. I can work with my trolley up to 25 to 30 below with this set up I use. I just love this job ...barry  :)

Well your nearly correct. The Mpemba Effect can in cirtain circumstances mean that hot water freezes quicker than cold but it is only under very strict circumstances.

As for using water from a water butt, think of the algea!

If I remember rightly from last winter, Barry`s secret is adding screenwash to his water barrels.
It must be good screenwash to work down to -30 though. And don`t forget he keeps his water barrels in a boiler room overnight.

Yep I went out from 9.30 and finished just as it went dark.  Did not earn as much as I  would normally do, mainly due to customers thinking they are kind hearted and asking me in for a warm.  I used hottish water and only froze once on a ver exposed window.

I went out today... Started at 10am and finished about 3pm... Not a full days money, but better than nothing!

It's hard getting started again after stopping for 15 minutes for lunch, I think I'm going to skip lunch in this weather and just work through.

Andy

PS. Joka Polar gloves are awesome!
