burning frozen pump up
« on: November 29, 2010, 02:57:44 pm »
Well, not a great start to the week - my heater in the van had for some reason stopped working. The water was not frozen and it was only -2=0 yesterday so thought it can not have been to bad. However, i went out to do first job with a newly charged battery (never used before for wfp) - and when i set up and turned on varistream + pump - got an error essage 'de' (ie'. a dead end has been detected).
Ignored ths as the varistream still worked and then realised that the pump must have frozen as no water was coming out. Before I did though - i ran the varisteram at full power (so the pump was on full power for 30 seconds or more0 - with no water circulating through it (just ice). Didnt see smoke or anything..
Tried all the connections - they all seem fine, but now varistream doesnt switch on - hence pump doesnt work.

Any ideas as to what I have done?? how much damage have i caused by not checking if the pump was frozen or not??
Cheers,

Rob

Rob
take the pump and put it in a bucket on a radiator in your house and see if just needs thawing out before taking it to bits

if its under some sort of warrenty you won't be covered if you tamper with it  ;D
