I dont mean to p on the fire guys, but I spoke to elliot yesterday and he had to admit to me there is next to no difference between this and the L5 heater, other than it doesnt cut out after 17 min (which can be stoped if you cut the water flow) and it has the C.E cert, which only means it can be sold in the EU. No performance difference at all, HIS WORDS.

Now you can buy all the stuff and fit it yourself for £130.00 ss can you please tell me where the other £800 is going?????????????

Im sorry but you have just been ripped off.

are you the guy that sells 1 house for 3x its value or whatever? if not, mistaken identity...

£130 and a load of aggro fitting it, no frost stat, cutting out all the time, no certified fitter for insurance.

personally, my days of messing around with motors, equipment are done. if someone can fit it for me and advise me correctly on its operation, and install, then i am happy with that.

if i had to rely on forums for lots of wrong info, how to run my business etc etc, then i would quickly be in a state.

supply + demand: my demand is for someone to tale away the stress of the supply and safe fit of a hot water system that willl provide me with on demand hot, and save my pipes from freezing...they supply that demand.

for me its a no brainer. for you it may be different. you may like men, i may like women...as long as we are both happy :)

Says the man with an Ionics system!

Ok I knew that was coming. Look, I dont mind paying extra money for things that I can see the benefit in. ITS THE SAME AS AN L5. When I called Elliot my exact words to him were...."tell me why I should pay that amount when i can have an l5 for £130" he could not tell me anything, I paid for Ionics because of the finance package (i wanted a new van at that time) and the crash testing, also at the time I didnt have a clue about diy system or any forum to get advice, it was a one stop shop. point is I could see where my extra money went. I dont see that here, if im missing something then please tell me, as usual my mind is open.

Does the £130 include all this?

Contents (Packages)

Proteus1                           Proteus2
(no frost protection)                     (with frost protection)

1 Heater                           All that Proteus1 has to offer plus
1 Flue pipe, collar                     1 frost stat control complete.
1 Cowl
Relevant fittings and hose
2 D Batteries
2 Stainless steel water hoses
1 Gas regulator and hose
1 Required vent

and of course does it include fitting by a corgi registered fitter?

I know I seem to be coming across as some sort of sales person for this system, but i am just after a good deal if I go for hot water.
I hate DIY for a start, then there is all the running around getting all the bit I would need to get an L5 to work, and then it would cut out,or have trouble igniting apparently.
Of course I would sooner spend £130 if it was at least ready to go out the box, with everything included, and a frost controller  ???

If there was a "like" button for posts, I would have just hit it for that one Chopsie.

I am no Poseidon salesman, but for me it represents value for money, and as long as it performs, I will be happy. Of course, if it doesn't, then thats a different story, however, I am prepared to put my money where my mouth is.

I was in the process of looking at a new van and a Purefreedom system with isothermal add on...then I looked at that and thought, really, why do I need to put myself in debt for something that ultimately just looks a little better than I have at the minute?! I am no big player, and cant justify the extra £££ of pressure required each month to repay the loans on a flash set up, so..slowly slowly catchy monkey.

After convincing myself of the Purefreedom add on to my existing set up, Poseidon came along and convinced me not to spend as much on a bolt on as I paid for my van!

It suits me for where I am and my business is at the minute. I am happy to invest in it, no matter what forum poope crops up.

Yes...but will need to see what the finish is like with that, as I may need to treat it and paint it if its not to my satisfaction.

Damn...there was me saying my diy days were done  :-[

If you were to pop into Pure Freedoms unit and have a look at their system you would be surprised just how cheap their version is. It's totally different to the Posiden version. It's based on a Webasto unit which costs a fortune to source if you were to try building your own.
If I had the money I'd go for it.

The l5 type heater - does that need a pilot light burning all night to fire the frost stat up?

number 4 answers this.

BENEFITS OF PROTEUS

2. Instant hot water, fully temperature adjustable.

3. Only heats water used to save in running costs.

4. No pilot light for a safe system.

5. Auto cut off devices for safety.

6. Independant fuel source, no empty fuel tank at the end of the day!

7. Runs independent of battery, no danger of a flat battery.*

8. Low running and maintenance costs.

9. Small and light, (no payload worries, discreetly fits in the smallest of vehicles).

10. Retro fits any system.

11. Fully approved CE certified.

12. Eco friendly (see section on Flogas Offer Page).

13. Complies with ADR limited load regulations.

14. Easy to install. (Gas safe registered fitter required to connect LPG).

God I hope these systems are ok after me posting this stuff.....I am only copying and pasting off their site though.

just bought a 4.2kw standalone heater for £25 plus a free 15kg butane bottle, feeling slightly smug now boys.

bit cheaper than £800

Nice, where did you get it from? Second hand?

adtrader or freeads, cant remember now,

if i had the money i would buy the posiedon, but dont have £800 lying around, and can be bothered to drive 400 miles!

the thing is guys when its that cold, do you really want to be working when you could be snowboarding on your local hill? this new weather needs to be taken advantage of b4 it goes back to normal! also isnt there a risk of shattered windows and crashing the 15k van?

im sure i will be turned to the dark side of wfp one day when i have the cash, i just love tech!  :)

Chopsie keep us posted I can't see anything wrong with that. My only concern might be how long it will last - who knows?
As for price I can't believe some of the top braggers on here are criticizing that. You can pay that for a 4040 ro unit.

I will look forward to seeing yours Simon. (it better not be that good as i have just spent 2.5k on mine ;D ;D)

Ultimately it is hot water in a pipe. I am chuffed to bits with my hot add on from pure freedom. A serious peice of kit and i don't think i would be at all swayed with the 800 cost of this system just purely because its LPG. No need to jump on me L5 Users ;D its just personal preference.

The PF one as described uses the 9.2 kw Webasto heater and that alone costs near enough 1k. if you see all the other bits, wiring, pipework, controllers, casing, fitting etc then you'll see why its 2.2k + vat which to be honest i think is a great price.

The 5kw from pure freedom looks tiny compared to the 9.2kw. I just need to get my frost setting sorted on mine as its not cutting in correctly when the temp drops  ???

Looks good that Steve.

I was quoted £3000inc to upgrade my system with the 9.2kw system.

Maybe in the future when I might need something like that, but at the minute, it's horses for courses.
