Ran out of work till mid jan
« on: November 26, 2010, 01:12:57 pm »
my work is all 2 monthly ive got 3 days in december stil left thou but ofc ill have about a month off

question is do i go out canvassing in this weather risk driving about in the frost ,ice which will come soon or ride out the storm start a big campaign next year.

im stay in a flat share at the moment so bills are low i could afford to do that but i think i am gona be bored  ???

maybe i should just go out canvassing and tell them if i dont manage to do the 1st clean before the snow and ice or Christmas then it will be in jan thing is i know they will all want the 1st clean before Christmas !

lucky you! we dont get time to take a day off until xmas day!

spend the time getting more work is prob best, door knocking for domestic houses.

if you did any commercial work then you wouldnt have so much time off but it aint my wc business and its upto you what yo do with your business ...

Aye cos i was wanting to take someone on part-time cos i was picking up so much work but then i thought i might not be prepared at that rate with winter round the corner

so i just cleaned all my backlog alone took me a while

if i dont canvass now my main work starts again once it gets to the 10th of jan if im alone it will keep be busy till about 20th of feb my idea was to take someone on and go mad with canvassing but just with winter im not so sure i re thought about it im bit cautious of winter last year was horrible , iced roads and all

Just get out and canvass. I know you may get some that want it cleaned once just for xmas, but i would rather have a few quid in my pocket than just sitting around doing sfa!

Go lie on a beach for a few weeks while the rest of us freeze to death.

Get out and find more work, providing your work is well priced for the frequency of clean you are in  an ideal position to grow. Dont sit back and waste time, its too valuable a commodity.

i prefer to do a full week of canvassing rather then do 1 day go and clean the next more economical thats what i mean how it could be mid december when i get to the last ones.

He is probably thinking as I would. You could canvass and quote around 6-10 houses in an hour, out of which you may pick up most if not all of them (if you get as far as the quote that is), then go back later that week or whenever as you would build up a days work maybe. But if you canvass and clean ones you get,you will only cover 1 house an hour. of course i am going on canvassing and quoting every house you knock in that hour, which is unlikely to happen, So you could cover quite a few more houses in that hour.

Yea thats it i prefer to canvas a full week to pick up 3 solid days if you kinda know what i mean and the whole point why i was thinking of doing it or wait till new year is that in about a week we will be in deep winter so was not sure

but im gona go for it at least then i can start the new year ahead!

May have read it wrong, but if you work 2 monthly and you say you will be busy Jan 10 to feb 20, then surely you have more than 3 days work in December?
Go canvassing, you may pick up one offs that only want a pre-Xmas clean, you may pick up regulars....have you contacted your existing custies to see if they want insides doing?
also sounds like you are planning around the weather...don't!... the weather will do what the weather will do! be aware of it but don't let it rule your work.
