I've had my SLX30 pole for less than 3 months and two of the clamps have worn out already. I paid £420 for this pole so should I buy some new clamps or ask Gardiners to send me some free of charge due to the fact its only 3 months old?

Doubt if they have worn out. Phone Gardiners and tell them - they will almost certainly take it back in for inspection and sort it out.

Thats a question best put to Gardiners. What are the clamps like? I have several CLX's are they the same clamps? It does seem to be a short time for a clamp to 'wear out', what has worn out on them?

Its the bolt inside them they wont tighten up meaning that the brush starts to spin.

I'd phone them mate, something not right there. Could be a couple of dodgy clamps. I put the new style clamps on my MKI SLX at the start of this year & they're still going strong on a 3 year old SLX!

My clamps are fine after nearly a year , had one snap on me when first got it, But it was user error.
Trouble I have is pole worn in areas so have to keep tightening/un tightening  clamps.

Right, the thread gone on the plastic nut them. They can't really wear out. What can happen is that they are screwed in to much, then force applied to the lever and it strips the thread out. nI would imagine Gardiners will send you some replacements, but to stop it happening again the twist grip nut should not be screwed in to tight, just tight enough to grip the pole when it is clamped, there should be instructons really as so many seem to strip them out.

Same happened to me. I stripped the thread. No instructions, now I have read this I won't do it again. Gardiners sent me replacements straight away.

go to your local engineer and get some made in metal, i had some done.......ok they cost a fiver each but theyll last forever, just take them off and put them on your next pole 

If the bolt is metal, the lever is metal and the nut is metal and someone overtightens it, what do you reckon will go first, any of the metal bits or the carbon hybrid pole?

Still under gaurantee mate, just ring them up, they will gladly replace new clamps in a jiffy bag.  Very approachable firm.

funny I should be reading this tonight, when I got home today I had a jiffy bag waiting with some spares in it from gardiners, same thing happened to me so I rang them a couple of days ago. Cant fault their customer service

I'll ring them in morning, though seems strange that its the top two that have gone which only get used for 3 story + which isn't as often as the bottom two which get used about 25 times per day.

Are you sure you are holding your pole the right way up?

I bought an slx back in July, a clamp came loose on Wednesday, phoned em thursday, epoxy resin in post this morning - now fixed and drying. Perty good service I'd say.

only an idiot would overtighten them that much to crush the pole itself!!!!!!!!

Who knows? I'd  of personally thought the same about stripping out threads? Did you get your engineer to put metal collars on your pole too? Just incase. Actually , Harris do a metal pole............no forget that i'm waffling !!!
