Tretford Carpet Tiles
« on: November 16, 2010, 03:12:23 pm »
Has anyone experience of cleaning these?

They are 80% Goat Hair / 20% Wool. Dry granules recommended.

The last company that cleaned these did so via HWE and left them over wet. They were recalled due to mould sprouting and the whole area stinking. This was around July.

They tiles due again soon and I've just been to take a look.

Obvious Problems: -
Previous bodged cleaning attempts may have ultimately trashed the tiles.

Very dirty (looks too dirty for dry ganules)

Tiles loose (thus making rotary somewhat tricky)

I do have dry granules so do you think this the best approach, maybe following a light misting of M Power? Or would you go in with the old faithful rotary?

if tiles are loose then that is a health and safety issue, offer to stick em down one day then clean them another, all in with the price of ccourse, i often stick the odd loose tile down when cleaning commercial, never many so do it for free but make a point of letting them know ive done it. always carry a can off tacifier on the van. if extremely dirty i'd trucmount and bonnet after with dry pad like i always, well at least i think i would, i'd have to see em first. obviously keeping moisture down to a minimum and the dry bonnets and blowers so's not to make the same mistake as the last cleaners.

Cheers Derek

I have pointed out the H & S issues already. This is a nursery so especially worrying that none of the tiles are stuck down (120 sq m).

I am putting a flooring contractor that uses us as a subbie in touch with them but feel they'll probably just go with the clean.

I did take a few pic's. I'll check them out later and if OK post a few.
