Particularly self cleaning glass (or the glass that the water goes down in little rivers)
its strange cos upstairs its pole or nothing. But downs i get worried in case there is a bead ,or if the water goes down in a sheet il normally pole it but not always! .
wooden frames ill always trad downs, its just i feel bad walking away from a house that might have a bead on the downstairs as i could have traded it and made sure.
And its true most self cleaning glass never seem to come out very good ;
then again sometimes they do,
i got a bit brave today and poled a few ,more downs then i normally do but still i find my self walking to the van pulling out the trad kit slowing me down. but all that goes in my head is well at least i make sure ill keep the work, cos i know at least the downs will end up nice.
I really wana be full pole, i guess i need some reassurance
Yes it's down to confidence. When you are still at that level, nothing will boost your confidence more then actually inspecting your work after you have done them. Will you see spots? Yes you will, but that just means that your technique needs refining. Practice makes perfect. Don't let it get you down.
Self cleaning glass is not just beading glass, just to point that out. The main two types of glass you will find are hydrophobic and hydrophillic ie. beading or sheeting. Self cleaning glass has those properties, but still a different type all together. I found is that beading glass if done properly has a higher chance of coming up well then sheeting. You just need to slightly slow down on the rinse, make sure you rinse every bit of the window. Dirt usually flies down the window when washing it.
I usually state to all custys that they may notice the odd dirty bead but assure them that this is usually due to it being the first time i have cleaned them and that once cleaned a couple of times they will be perfect
If there is a dirty spot on the window, something went wrong during the clean, either a drip from the top frame or gasket, or not rinsed/scrubbed enough. Unless a window has been poorly maintained and the glass has degraded, ie dirt has etched in the window, a window on a first clean should come up well.
