I've (accidentally) used over 30 with no problem.

I never check my tds though.

I cleaned a whole mansion last week with 35ppm, came up spotless! Was a whole day job too so They were dry before I left. ;)

I normally only let it go up to 10 before changing.

it seems the days of us worrying when it gets to 002ppm are over. now going into the 30s and still finding its spot free. it makes me wonder what would make a regular cleaned with wfp window spot. who has gone higher than 50 with still good results??

My water comes out the tap at 030 ish. I've cleaned my own windows with it and perfect clean. Personally I wouldn't want to clean a paying customers windows with water over 015 though. Let us know how you get on daz.

And m.stav, I assume you mean it's me that's "following you around"? I've posted in 1 (one) thread of yours, I'm such a stalker.  ???

M.stav, I apologise then :)

ds, because errrm, I'm supposed to be a pure water window cleaner and don't generally hang about after every clean to check the results.

If we can clean with 15-30, why do we bother with di resin? We could save a fortune not buying any

becasue we conditioned to use 000,  it is only the first few cleans where u get spots if done properly window should come up clean every time

its only 2 barrels that are reading 14-15 tds.the rest are 10tds.

thanks for all the posts guys.so it seems to me our water doesnt need to be 000 to clean a window with wfp!

ill see how i get on today!everything im cleaning today(1 commercial/8 large houses)are wfp.

ive filled my monster 25L DI with fresh resin ready for monday so no problems with getting it down to 000 from monday onwards.

Because you can't be 100% sure what the 15-30 is made up of, so technically to be safe, staying under ~12ppm should be fine. Staying at 000 is just the ideal standard. In my opinion, you should never go DI only to begin with, it's a waste of money and time. Even if you have 30 coming out of the tap, I'd still use a membrane. It's much more economical. Especially at that tds level your membrane and prefilters will last a very very long time.

good post above, as he has stated 000ppm is ideal especially on
first cleans the water is a more aggressive cleaner the less mineral
content it has. i regularly use water up to 10ppm on maintenance
cleans with no problems, anything above that though i have noticed
spotting on properties but thats dependent on the windows and
where the properties are situated e.g. busy roads.

so personally i dont go above 10ppm to be safe

It occured to me that it may not be ok to clean with anything above zero tds.
If you have advertised, or if you have told your customer that you are using pure water, and then set about the place with 015ppm tds you will have lied. A pedantic trading officer may pick it up one day.

any boffins looked at this??

Yes, I have heard the police are out doing stop checks on window cleaners of late.  They are pulling them over and being asked to pump into their TDS reader for 3 seconds.  If your water is found to be over the limit you will get an instant 2 year WFP ban  ;D
