Gutter vac's & Pine needles ?
« on: November 04, 2010, 11:38:02 pm »
Can anyone tell me how gutter vacs get on with removing pine needles ?

Got a customer who wants their gutters cleaning out. They live in a wooded area and the gutters are full of pine needles.

Would a gutter vac suck them up easily or get blocked easily ?

Just wondered as ive not used a gutter vac before and dont want to be underpricing the job if i have to keep unblocking it every 5 mins

They tend to jam sideways accross the nozzle and the inlet to the drum so you may need to drop the tube now and again to clear any obstruction. Still sucks  them up though.

Ive done a commercial gutter clean with mostly pine needles and an awful lot of them but didn't have any problems.

that was using the Omni-vac

in fact Ive now done a few gutter cleans where pine needles are present and each time Ive had no problems mate.

As above - not much can block up an omni vac

Beware if you also have overhanging slates, you may need to get up there.
