Just been out in the carport all day putting together my water making/storage area for work but with winters in mind.....been bitten before...so this is the last time trying to prevent my gear freezing.

Forgive the photo's..taken on my phone....

The base is raised 60cm's off the ground with a ply base and that silver foil bubble wrap on the base..there is also space under the platform for polystyreen pieces for additional insulation.

On the back wall there is 20cm thick polystyreen with silverfoil bubble wrap over the top.

it's coming along just had to put the r/o system back together to make some water...the new blue tank has a 1960liter capacity....fitted a sight tube and marked it in 120 litre increments upto the top.

Fitted additional hole at top of tank for over flow purposes an additional hole at the bottom so that if I want to drain or fit a outside pump I can through a 1 inch gate valve and quick fitting.

Have a 5000l p/h pump which seems to deliver about 25 litres every 50 seconds...ok it's not 5000 l/p/h but it's good enough for me.

All main connections are Geka claw type

Things to do:

Build, paint front/side and top hatch, insulate.

Fit 1000w wei pro titanium tube heater+ digi stat in tank...fit 45w tube heater+stat into r/o compartment.

Yes I have pulled it apart and strengthened the base/floor...and built a frame today...

Been back out in the carport 'fettling' again...

Re-fitted the HF5-4040 membrane, pre filters, 2x tds meters...also fitted the 1000 watt koi tank heater and digi-stat...

The section in the photo will also have one of those 12v boat tube heaters with a thermostat as a backup to protect the membrane.

I am also working on the fact that the 1000watt heater in the center of the water tank will heat the tank and that heat will radiate through the tank walls...I have left a space around the tank so that this warm radiated heat can flow around...the temp probe is attached to the pump in the tank which is at the base and at the membrane end and the heater is about 3 inches off the bottom/center of the tank.

The idea is too fill the 2000litre tank once a week and once filled the heater will be turned on and the once the water is upto the set-point (around 5 deg) it should'nt take much to keep it at that temp as 2000 litres is enough water for me most weeks.

There's still time...

I have just finished my winter r/o & tank winteriszation project...

2x2 frame, 40cms of polystyreen, double sided foil bubble wrap....now with the temps being so bad...it is still early days yet but the enclosure seems to be doing it's job...I have had a 45 watt tube heater going with a thermostat...only for the past couple of days and thats been fine....have been making water overnight and can now try out the koi carp pond heater with a digistat....am going to try and get the 2000litres upto 8 degs and see.

Still time to prepare...even if only to protect your r/o systems...
